Welcome to English I! We have a very exciting and very busy year ahead as we explore literature, practice reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, and prepare for future studies and assessments.

***Attention Parents***

This year, your English I student will be taking the STAAR End of Course (EOC) test for English I. Our writing test will be Monday, March 26th and our reading test will be Tuesday, March 27th.

Each student now has an individual account at www.USATESTPREP.com. Your student can log in from any computer with their username and password and the school code (hookstx).

This program is a great way for your student to practice specific skills that will help them succeed on the EOC.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

The University Interscholastic League offers the most comprehensive literary and academic competitive program in the nation. These activities, which exist to complement the academic curriculum, are designed to motivate students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge, to challenge students to confront issues of importance, and to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills.
