Our children are our future!
What a great new year!
Hi!
My name is Shiva McCraw, I am the 4th grade inclusion teacher and 3rd grade small group reading teacher at Hooks Elementary. I have taught 3rd - 8th grade Special Education. I was raised all over the U.S as a child and moved to Texarkana when I was an adolescent. I graduated high school from Pleasant Grove. I attended college at the University of Oklahoma, there I received a B.A. in Psychology. Soon after I returned to Texarkana, to continue my education at Texas A&M which I earned a teaching certificate and a Masters of Science in Special Education. I am currently working on a M.Ed. in Administration.
What is the Inclusion Program!
This means we are a center of learning where students needs are being addressed throughout the day. Students, regardless of their disability, are in general education classrooms. The inclusion teachers make adaptations to materials, the curriculum and activities ensuring our children achieve individual and academic goals. After all, it doesn't matter how you get there because there are many alternate routes to get to the same place.
Inclusion means that we celebrate the diverse abilities of our students.

Inclusion is the ship that isn't even built yet. It is a new ship.
One we will build together.

Inclusion is a kaleidoscope of diversity, bits or color, sounds, shapes, and sizes.

Inclusion is our future.
