The Junior League of Texarkana sponsors the Teacher Take Wing grant program. This program awards local teachers grants to fund creative projects, equipment, and learning materials to enhance the educational experience of students. Teachers must prepare a proposal and budget and give a description of the project or items requested. This year, Connie Harpold, Prekindergarten teacher at Hooks Elementary, was a recipient of this grant. She was awarded $160 to purchase hands on math materials for her classroom. Items she will be receiving will include magnetic cookie sheet counting, button sorting, and pocket chart tabletop patterning materials. Students will enjoy working with these new materials both in whole group instruction and small group center time. Mrs. Harpold is very excited to be awarded this grant to enhance her math curriculum.
