Clothing and Fashion Design
Week of : September 12, 2011

The learner completed Chapter two and Recalling the Facts the chapter review on page 48.
This week we will look at family clothing needs, multiple roles, and clothing management.
We will look at setting priorities, budgeting and responsibilities associated with clothing.
The learner will complete summary on page 58. We will discuss self-expression through appearance,
the accuracy of first impressions, and individuality where clothing is concerned.

Fashion Design 2nd Period
The learner will complete Ch 4 questions
They will bring one accessory that displays her personality and tell us how the item relates to them.
We will look at Chapter 5- Fashion history. The chapter is an extremely long chapter-we will not cover
all of it but I want the students to see many of the designers that are currently in the news.

Week of 10-3-11
2nd Period: Fashion Design
Oral Reports to be completed-Fashion Famous Designers
week of 10-10-2011
2nd: Fashion/Clothing Design
The student’s will decide on three letters to stitch in cross-stitch
Student will transfer their design to graph paper to learn spacing.
The learner will begin to stitch on gingham the design they choose to make.
week of 10-17-'11
B-day:
2nd: Embroidery basics- fabric, needles Emb. Thread –division and how to knot strands.
Basics of Cross-stitch will be discussed and students will start on their design.
Students configured a design using three letters—teaching spacial relationships and replicating their design on graph paper. Students will begin stitching.
week of 10-24-11
2nd Fashion Design: Students space three
letters in cross-stitch . Students will decide on
an embroidery design to stitch on a cup towel.
Students will iron on design and learn Embroid. Techniques.
week of Oct. 31-'11
2nd: Clothing classes will start on Embroidery-iron-on pattern and learn techniques particular to Embroidery. These will be due Nov.11th at the end of the 6-weeks. After selecting and beginning her design; students may take their project with them. Progress must be visible daily- as in the student working on project in class daily.

A-day: 2nd Clothing class Emb.-all students should be Embroidering
Second technique in hand sewing-
Students should have fabric for apron when returning from Thanksgiving and we will begin cutting out apron. We will continue to learn the parts of the sewing machine.

2nd Clothing and Fashion Design
Students will complete the Embroidery Project
Or will take it home over Thanksgiving to finish
We will begin to put sewing machines together and learn the parts of the machine.

2nd Sewing-Parts of the Machine

Tension and stitching on a page, use of back stitch
week of 12-5-11
2nd: Sewing- Students will study pg. 456 in textbook
Write down the terms and Sub. will give information on needle size and stitches per inch.
Students will thread the machine and practice lining up the edge of a piece of paper with the presser-
foot and sewing a line of stitching, using back-stitching and adjusting the length of stitches.

The Moscow Ballet will perform at the Perot Theater on 1-27-2012
Students will find the costuming for Cinderella fabulous. Mr. Ashlin is the house manager now at the Perot-students will feel comfortable attending knowing he is there. I shall try to be there also.

2nd: Clothing and Fashion Design
Students have completed the straps for the apron
They will clean-finish the bottom edge, both sides shall be finished off and the bottom of the apron skirt hemmed.




week of: 1-23-12
2nd. Sewing-Fashion design- Hemming garment
Students will put in two rows of gathers and attach a waistband.
week of 1-30-'12
2nd Clothing/Sewing classes are completing aprons and making a “scrunchie” for tying ones hair back while preparing food, a bag with a casing at each end for stuffing “Wal-Mart bags” plastic bags in to use in the kitchen or any closet for easy access. The learner shall make a potholder to match or coordinate with their apron as a gift or for their hope chest.
Students should begin to get supplies for boxers or long pants: anywhere from two(2) yards to 2 and ½ yards of cotton/polyester blend fabric (no fleece, no slippery fabrics). Remember we will need more fabric if nap or one way designs are chosen.

2nd Clothing: The students shall begin Boxer shorts; Six patterns, alter size, flat-felt seams, casings and an elastic waist closure.
week of 2-21-12
2nd Sewing: Students will begin to crochet—they will be learning on a scane of thread and with a needle (hook) supplied by the Homemaking Dept.
week of 2-27-'12
2nd-Sewing class- Students shall learn double crochet and may begin Granny Square
Students shall have demonstrated draft stopper and slip on draft stopper to make for family and friends
Students may make a bunny for Easter that holds Easter egg.
week of 2-27-'12

Students shall make a torn skirt
Begin on a sundress if they are planning to make one.
week of 3-26-'12
2nd period Sewing/ Fashion Design
Students shall make a skirt or a sun dress/ dress
Student’s that have been working on small projects need to have supplies to make a valid project.
week of 4-2-12
2nd Fashion-Students shall continue to cut out sun dresses, skirts etc.. Sew the project according to the direction page.
2nd Clothing- Students shall continue with dresses
week of 4-12-2012
2nd Sewing: Students shall work toward completion of Sun dress. Please be mindful that students that
have not brought their fabric may not have time to complete a garment. Students are required
to sew daily.
2nd- Sewing-Students work toward completion of garment
Must sew daily!
2nd-Clothing: Students will complete part 4 pg. 544
Recalling the facts (1-10)
Students will continue to work toward completion of garment
2nd Fashion design- Students will complete garments if possible. Work toward finishing garments. Sew daily making purse to compliment outfit, head wear, etc…
