Hi! My name is Lauren Ashlin and I am the brand new Journalism, Yearbook, and Speech teacher. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Texarkana with a degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Psychology. I also graduated from Texarkana Community College with an Associates in Journalism.

I have always had a passion for taking pictures, writing, and traveling. In college I was lucky enough to go on a global journalism trip to Hungary and Switzerland to study different kinds of communications in other countries. It was not only an eye opener but a life changing experience as well.

This is my first year of teaching and I hope that with my knowledge and experience I can make my classes as fun for my students as they were for me. My goals for this year are to teach my new journalism and yearbook students the core fundamentals of journalism, page design, page layout, and photography. For my returning students I hope they will be able to use the skills from previous years and I will be able to challenge their ability further and make them as prepared for college and the future as possible.

My goals for my speech classes will be; to teach the kids not only the proper speaking style, but to also teach them to be comfortable in crowds, interviewing techniques, the different communication processes and how to apply it to their every day activities.

I know that we will have a great year and can not wait to get started!
